Passionate, Practical, Personable, and Prolific are words that describe the Ministry of Pastor Nathan E. Austin. Pastor Austin is a native of Miami, Florida. He is the youngest of four siblings and the only child of Nathaniel Austin and Ruby Fryer. He is a graduate of William H. Turner Technical Arts High School. He received his college education at Florida Memorial University. He received his spiritual training at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Miami under the leadership of the Late Rev. Arthur Jackson Jr. While at New Shiloh Minister Austin was active in several areas of ministry. He received his calling to preach the gospel at the early age of 16. He preached his trial sermon on October 30, 1997. As a young minister, Min. Austin exercised his gift at many local churches. It was under the consist tutelage of Pastor Jackson’s, Minister Austin learned the true meaning of servitude and what it meant to be a great person and Pastor.
In 2002 after Pastor Jackson made his transition from time to eternity, Minister Austin continued his spiritual training under the leadership of Pastor D. L. Powell. It was under Pastor Powell’s leadership Minister Austin received what he calls the “tools of the trade”. In November of 2004 Pastor Powell saw fit to ordain Minister Austin to the position of Reverend. After this Reverend Austin began to soar like an eagle in ministry. Pastor Austin also has to blessed privilege to called Pastor E. Dewey Smith Jr. (House of Hope Atlanta) a close friend, father and mentor in ministry.
Rev. Austin was appointed director of Multi-Media and Marketing at New Shiloh. Through this appointed Rev. Austin transitioned New Shiloh from a ministry that only offered audio cassettes to a TV ready ministry, offering cd’s, dvd’s , mp3’s along with a state of the art website.
In February 2011 a faithful group of members of the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Pompano Beach FL., by the aid of the Holy Spirit, selected Rev. Austin as their new spiritual leader. Since his appointed to pastorate, Pastor Austin has transitioned Mount Zion (presently known as the Zion Church) from a reeling ministry to a relevant ministry.” His insightful and inspiring messages along with his unique gift of bringing the “wasness” of the word into the “isness” of now, has impacted the city of Pompano in a powerful way. Upon his arrival to Mt. Zion he coined the phrase “Positioned 2 Prosper” Under his leadership the church is experiencing exponential growth spiritually, numerically and financially. Several upgrades and renovations have already been completed and more are still to come. Pastor Austin is the Founder and CEO of The Mt Zion Community Development Corporation.
Under the banner of Positioned 2 Prosper, Pastor Austin began researching public programs that would not only provide a service to the community at large but also provide viable employment to the members of his church who many were still suffering from the depths of the Great Recession of 2008. This desire to create an internal economy for his membership lead Pastor Austin to not only become a sponsor in the Summer Food Service Program, but become one of the largest African-American Programs in the State of Florida. His program serves over 3,000 meals per day to at risk children and employs over 75 individuals. The program has grown to an annual budget of over $700,000.00 in a short two-year period. Recognizing a needed niche in the community that he could fill, Pastor Austin developed a for-profit arm of the CDC that provides breakfast and lunch to private schools who serve this same at risk community during the school year through the Step Up for Students Scholarship Program.
Pastor Austin is sought after throughout much of the State of Florida as a lecturer and trainer on how to make ministry meaningful in the 21st century through the use of technology. He is considered by some to be a Master Motivator in the areas of Marriage and Finances. He is married and supported by the former Ms. Kimberly Brown and they are the proud parents of Noah Jamal Austin and Joshua Nathan Austin.
